ERA Architects (2021)
In 2019, restoration work began on the Century-old, Edwardian-style brick building. Originally constructed as a car dealership and later transformed in Toronto's largest "Love Boutique," a series of unsympathetic modifications had been made to the building’s facade.
ERA was retained as the heritage architect to assist the project architect in the restoration of the facade. I advised on the paint removal to ensure the brick’s patina was preserved, as well as historically accurate wood window replacements and reconstructed bays. The successful collaboration between owner, architect, structural engineer, heritage consultant, contractor, and trades delivered an outstanding result. The stunning retail transformation honours the building’s heritage while revitalizing its presence on Yonge Street.
